Denis Delbourg is a French diplomat, with a background in philosophy, graduate of the École Normale Supérieure and of the École Nationale d’Administration (ENA). He has served in academia before joining the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978. He then worked for several Ministers: cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (1981-1984), cabinet of the Minister of Culture (1984-86 and 1991-1992) and at the cabinet of the Prime Minister (1988-1991, 1992-1993, 2000-2003). He has been appointed as Cultural advisor at the French Embassy in the United States (1993-1996), General Consul in Rio de Janeiro (1996-2000), French Ambassador in Sweden (2003-2008), and French Ambassador in Portugal (2008-2010). He has served as Chief Counsellor at the French Court of Auditors (Cour des Comptes).
